malt Summer Camps
MALT Summer Camps are a full circle experience for our entire community. The idea started 35 years ago, when thoughtful people came together to protect the natural spaces of Addison County, VT. Each summer, MALT brings it’s mission to life by connecting local youth with the protected lands of their back yards. In forests, meadows, rivers, and everywhere in-between, we imagine, play, create, and connect with nature—and with each other! Our children are the future and at MALT, we believe that love of nature is a way of life. Help us bring these two ideas together and join us on your wild side!
2026 registration
Summer camp is in full swing, but we still have a few openings available! If you're looking for a fun and engaging experience for your child this summer, now is the time to register. Camp enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, and as of June 24, space is available in the following camps:
Coyote Camp: Over four days, campers explore hidden corners of the Gorge while embracing their wild side through hands-on games like mud camouflage and predator-prey challenges. Designed for our youngest adventurers, Coyote Camp invites children to step into the paws of a mischievous coyote and explore the untamed natural world.
Town Hall Theater Camp: In this week-long partnership between Town Hall Theater and MALT, campers will work on developing a number of highly physical theater skills. A portion of this camp will be oriented around stage combat and physical stunts; students will build trust as a group and in pairs and then will learn how to safely execute a fake fight, before devising their own original stories and dialogue to add to their scene. Campers will develop their focus, nonverbal communication, and their ability to create a safe environment for themselves and others. We will learn simple stunts like aikido rolls and how to fall safely. For students most interested in acting, there will certainly be space to add lots of dialogue and character building to your work. The week will culminate in the students performing their work for families and friends on Friday the 17th at the end of the day.
The camp will take place both outdoors at Otter Creek Gorge on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and indoors at Town Hall Theater on Tuesday and Thursday.
TAM Trekkers: Has your camper been doing MALT for years, and is looking for a crowning achievement in their MALT experience? This camp is it! Join us in hiking all 19+ miles of the TAM. Each day, we’ll cover a 4-5 mile through-hike, taking us through forests and fields encircling Middlebury.
Camp Schedule: Except for “Coyote Camp”, each camp is five days long, Monday through Friday. Camp begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:30 pm. Coyote camp will run Monday through Thursday due to the July 4th holiday.
