SCHOOL programs

MALT's education programs provide an experience that not only gives your child the opportunity to explore freely and adventure in the outdoors, but works to create a land ethic where respect for nature and other living beings are of the utmost importance. We spend all our time on MALT's conserved lands and Middlebury Town Forests. Sign your kiddo(s) up and help them get in touch with their wild side as they bolster their classroom learning.

MALT Members receive discounts on all youth programming including afterschool, vacation camps, and summer camps. Become a member today!

NOTE: Due to rising costs, MALT will be increasing prices this year to ensure we can continue offering our popular youth programs. We do not make this decision lightly, but it is necessary to maintain the quality and accessibility of these experiences for the community.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Program Details

10/7/26 – Skulls & Bones

  • As summer fades and the woods grow quiet, we'll go looking for clues the animals left behind. Kids will investigate real skulls and bones, piece together who they belonged to, and uncover the mysteries of who's out there this season.

11/4/26 – Wildlife Camp

  • Cooler days mean animals are getting ready for winter! We'll explore how local wildlife preps for the cold, search for signs and tracks, and learn what it takes to survive the changing season.

12/9/26 – Winter Wonders

  • The most magical season is here! We'll bundle up for winter-themed games, nature crafts, and outdoor exploration, discovering the quiet beauty and wonder of the woods in winter.

2/3/27 – Snowflake Explorers

  • Every snowflake tells a story! Inspired by Vermont's own "Snowflake" Bentley, kids will get up close with real snowflakes, study their one-of-a-kind shapes, build snow forts, and discover the beauty Mother Nature crafts in winter.

4/7/27 – Treasure Hunters

  • Spring is the perfect season for a good mystery! Kids will follow clues, read maps, and uncover hidden treasures while learning about the natural gems popping up all around us.

5/12/27 – TAM Trekkers

  • Hit the Trail Around Middlebury (TAM) with us! We'll set out on a kid-friendly hike, discovering plants, wildlife, and the joy of exploring our local trail system.
