Winter Safari through the Moosalamoo Mountains!
Bundle up and join MALT & Vermont Fish & Wildlife at the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center for a winter tracking adventure perfect for adults and kids alike. We’ll explore the Beaver Dam Loop, a family-friendly trail that’s about 1.7 miles, with optional side treks that can make the outing a bit longer. Along the way, we’ll snowshoe or hike through the winter landscape, learning how to identify animal tracks and signs and uncover the stories wildlife leaves behind in the snow.
Our guide, Caleb Greaser of Vermont Fish & Wildlife, brings a wealth of experience to the trail. Caleb is the Visitor Center Coordinator for the Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area and completed an intensive tracking course through the University of Vermont, covering the same material as a Level 1 tracking certification. He has spent months studying furbearer tracks and signs across Vermont and has several years of experience leading outdoor education programs in Vermont and Maryland.
After our winter wander, we’ll warm up back at the Outdoor Center, where food and drinks will be available for purchase.
You’ll most likely need snowshoes for this event. Snowshoes can be rented at the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center—availability is limited, so please reserve in advance by emailing blueberryhilltrails@gmail.com with your name and approximate weight.
CANCELLATION POLICY: MALT operates programs outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. If weather conditions are hazardous (lightning, sustained winds >30m.p.h., sustained heat of 100 degrees or freezing temps), MALT may cancel the program. MALT will communicate about cancellations through our social media channels and email to registered participants.
